On September 25th, 1982, the body of 49 year-old Lillian Laurel Prahin was found floating in the Chippewa River just off of S. 9 Mile Rd. approximately 1.5 miles south of M-20 in Midland County. Evidence indicated that Prahin had been the victim of a homicide.

She was last seen alive in Bay City, where she was a resident, on Wednesday September 22nd, and may have been seen as late as Friday, September 24th, 1982. Prahin frequented the downtown area in Bay City and was familiar with the local night life.

Prahin's vehicle, described as a silver 1976 4-door Chrysler, with a maroon vinyl top,remained missing for almost three weeks after Prahin's body was discovered. On October 11th , 1982, Prahin's vehicle was recovered in the parking lot of the Meijer Thrifty Acres store in Ionia, Michigan.

Detectives believe that persons may have seen Lillian Prahin between Wednesday September and late Friday night on September. People may have also seen her vehicle in the Bay City or Midland area after her body was located.
