The Midland County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a two vehicle fatal traffic crash that claimed the life of a 21 year old Breckenridge man. The incident occurred on West Redstone Road east of South Lewis Road in Jasper Township at approximately 11:35 pm on June 28, 2020.
Our investigation indicates that the driver, Noah Jennell, age 21, was headed westbound on West Redstone Road in a green 2006 Saturn Ion. Mr. Jennell’s vehicle struck the rear end of a 2010 OXBO model 334 hey merger that was being pulled by a green Fendt 822 tractor. The driver of the Fendt tractor was Juan Alvarez, age 29, from Breckenridge.
Mr. Jennell was pronounced deceased at the scene. Mr. Alvarez was uninjured. Neither driver were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash. The Saturn’s front air bags did deploy.
The incident remains under investigation. While there is no evidence to indicate that alcohol or drugs may have been a factor in this crash, we are waiting for toxicology reports for a final determination. Once the investigation is complete, a report will be sent to the Midland County Prosecutor for review.
The Midland County Sheriff’s Office were assisted at the scene by St. Louis Fire Rescue, Mid-Michigan EMS and Deputy Chief Medical Examiner, Dr. Dennis Wagner.
