Car/Pedestrian Fatal Crash

The Midland County Sheriff's Office is investigating a car/pedestrian traffic crash that claimed the life of a 51 year old St. Louis, MI man. The incident took place on West Kent Road near South Geneva Road in Jasper Township at approximately 12:26 PM on September 4, 2019.

Our investigation indicates that the driver, Jeffrey Bothe, age 39 from Ravenna, MI, was driving his black 2004 Chevy Silverado pickup truck and was heading westbound on West Kent Road. A pedestrian named Ramon Wilson, age 51, was getting his mail from his mailbox located on the south side of West Kent Road.

An uninvolved eastbound vehicle passed Mr. Wilson. Mr. Wilson then proceeded to walk north across the road towards his residence and walked into the path of the westbound vehicle driven by Mr. Bothe.

Mr. Wilson was pronounced deceased at the scene and was later transported to Mid-Michigan Medical Center by EMS.

While there is no evidence to indicate that alcohol or drugs may have been a factor in this crash, we are waiting for toxicology reports for a final determination. This report will be forwarded to the Midland County Prosecutor's Office for review once it has been completed.

The Midland County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by Mid-Michigan EMS, Chief Medical Examiner Dr. J Daniel Cline and Breckenridge Fire Rescue.
