The Midland County Planning Department reviews proposed zoning ordinance changes and master plans for all municipalities in Midland County. This is in accordance with Michigan’s Zoning Enabling Act (PA 110 of 2006).
The Planning Commission completed a Land Use Guideline for the County in 2006. It reflects opportunities and strategies for municipalities within the county in an effort to recognize and implement their roles as facilitators in the land use planning process. To achieve this, the Land Use Plan strives to provide accurate, current and meaningful mapping of physical, demographic and transportation features with the intent of being a resource for sound decision making at the local level. The Plan also includes a discussion of opportunities for positive land use changes for the county and each municipality with options and strategies to study those and other opportunities that townships may consider.
Planning is provided through a contractual agreement with the Spicer Group
