The Finance Department is responsible for the functions of Accounts Payable, Payroll, Benefits, Purchasing, and General Ledger. The Finance Department is responsible for all financial reporting which includes annual budget preparation and control of budgetary accounts; and the preparation for the annual audit.
The Finance Director is appointed by the Administrator/Controller and acts as a financial advisor to the Administrator/Controller. When requested, the Finance Department provides support for special projects, such as new building construction or remodeling facilities.
The Finance Department expects to process approximately 7,000 checks for accounts payable in 2013 and 337 electronic fund transfers (EFTs) in 2013. The dollar amount of the accounts payable disbursements is expected to reach $58,000,000, paid to over 3,900 vendors and will be accounted for in over 4,900 individual account line items. In addition, the Finance Department will facilitate payment of over 780 checks to employees enrolled in the Flexible Spending program, and over $23,000,000 in wages and benefits and to approximately 360 employees within 8 different labor groups. The purchasing function is expected to process over 700 contract purchase orders for goods and services, and 150 contracts.
