Board of Public Works

The Midland County Board of Commissioners created a  Board of Public Works under Act 185 of Michigan Public Acts of 1957.  An Act to authorize the establishing of a department and board of public works in counties; to prescribe the powers and duties of any municipality subject to the provisions of this act; to authorize the incurring of contract obligations and the issuance and payment of bonds or notes; to provide for a pledge by a municipality of its full faith and credit and the levy of taxes without limitation as to rate or amount to the extent necessary; to validate obligations issued; and to prescribe a procedure for special assessments and condemnations.

Midland County Board of Public Works 7 members are made of the following structure:
One member from each Quadrant of Midland County by recommendation of the Township Officials Association:

  • NE - Mills, Hope, Lincoln, and Larkin Townships
  • NW - Warren, Edenville, Geneva, Jerome Townships
  • SE - Homer, Midland, Mount Haley, Ingersoll Townships
  • SW - Greendale, Lee, Jasper, Porter Townships

Board of Public Works meet the 3rd Monday of each month in the Board of Commissioners meeting room of the County Services Building, 220 W. Ellsworth at 7:00 p.m.
