The Midland County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 57 year old Edenville Township man on an outstanding felony warrant for receiving and concealing stolen property. In affecting the arrest, deputies seized two handguns, prescription narcotics, some bath salts and $3254.00 in U.S. currency.
On October 18th the Sheriff’s Office received a tip that the suspect was eating dinner at the Sanford Lake Bar and Grill. Deputies were able to locate the subject and sneak up on where he was sitting without being detected. Deputies seized the suspect’s arms and identified themselves. As the deputies were attempting to gain control of the suspect, he was able to free one of his hands. He announced that he had a gun on his person and reached towards his back waistline. The subject brought his free arm out and deputies saw that he was not holding a weapon, but did see a handgun in the front of his waistline. The suspect was removed from the booth he was sitting in and handcuffed.
A search of the subject incident to his arrest located a .45 caliber handgun that was reported stolen out of Bay County, a .44 caliber black powder revolver, nineteen prescription narcotic pills, and a powdery substance in a dollar bill suspected of being bath salts. Additionally, the suspect was carrying $3254.00 in cash. All items were seized.
The suspect was transported to the Midland County Jail on the outstanding warrant and was additionally charged with resisting and obstructing arrest, violation of the controlled substance act, carrying a concealed weapon, and being a felon in possession of a firearm. A report will be forwarded to the prosecutor for a review.
