On December 30, 2009, Midland County Jail was relocated to 101 Fast Ice Drive, Midland, Michigan 48642. Jail capacity is 274 beds. The podular design is state of the art, which includes open intake, pods for Trustys, Work Release, Females, Maximum Security, Medium Security and Direct Supervision. The theory for this new jail is to "bring everything to the prisoner, and the prisoner to nothing". Each pod is equipped with its own classroom, video visitation station and an indoor/outdoor recreation room.
