Information Systems

The Midland County Information Systems Department consists of one Director, one Software Coordinator, two Systems Technicians, and one System Support Technician. It is responsible for maintaining all computers and server equipment as well as telephone systems for all county buildings.

The current ISD Mission Statement is as follows: The Information Systems Department provides services to other County Departments consisting of systems design and analysis, programming, computer training, support, data processing, and telephone/voice mail systems.

Through the maximization of automated services, the County will keep pace with technology and experience a higher quality of service to the Midland community, both in data processing and communications.

The Department is responsible for evaluating and configuring computer hardware and software systems. The responsibility does not end once the systems are installed. The responsibilities which follow are the most important: maintenance, upgrades, training, and support.

Objectives

  • Assist users in the effective utilization of existing data processing and communication equipment.
  • Program in house computer applications to satisfy user requirements.
  • Program phone switch and voice mail system to satisfy user requirements
  • Identify and assist users in defining new data processing and phone requirements
  • Design new systems or enhancements to existing systems to meet new requirements.
  • Implement new systems designs and system enhancements.
  • Maintain all data processing systems serving the user community.
  • Maintain software.
  • Maintain hardware.
  • Maintain Networks.
  • Provide training to the users in data entry and use of their systems.
  • Respond to production and operational problems to ensure a high level of service to the user community
  • Provide timely and reliable computing service to all users of the data resource
  • Provide technical assistance related to office automation, operating agencies, and county decision makers.
  • Maximize automated services to slow overall growth of personnel costs.
  • Recommend hardware/software acquisition.
  • Provide training to phone users on phone features and voice mail.
