Sunday, September 8, 2013 marks the date of the 9th annual Parkapalooza festival at Midland County's beautiful Sanford Lake Park. Since 2005, Parkapalooza has given mid-Michigan one of the very best end-of-summer parties under the sun.
The festival is put together by the DStreet Music Foundation and the Midland County Parks and Recreation Commission , and is held on the second Sunday of each September. All of the entertainment and activities at Parkapalooza are free to the public!
Parkapalooza has grown steadily over the years, from nearly 2,000 attendees in 2005 - its inaugural year to the 6,000 people that attended in 2011.
We have been able to turn a wild idea of live music on the beach in 2005 to a much-anticipated annual event, said Ed Kerns, Vice President of the DStreet board, and Park Ranger for Sanford Lake Park. The festival just continues to grow, year-after-year.
Eight area bands will play from noon until 8:00pm on the Parkapalooza stage. Festivities will also include a rock climbing wall, a sand-sculpting contest, and many other activities.
